Common Questions
How much headroom is required for a loft conversion?
Ideally, you need 2.2m from the top of the ceiling joists to the bottom of the ridge. If your roof is lower, we can often still convert it by lowering the ceilings on the floor below.
Will I need to move out during the build?
Usually not. We access the loft through the roof for the majority of the structural work, only breaking through for the staircase in the final weeks.
Are loft conversions 'permitted development' in Edinburgh?
